About CRAIO
The Conference of Retiree Associations of International Organisations (CRAIO, in French CAROI) brings together the associations that represent former staff of international organisations based in Europe. Its purpose is to let these associations exchange information and ideas in confidence, so that each can better promote, serve and defend the economic, social and moral interests of the retirees it represents.
Who takes part
Associations from 18 international organisations took part in the 2026 conference, from the Council of Europe, OECD and NATO to CERN, ESA, ECMWF, the European Patent Office and the World Meteorological Organization, together with the two associations of the Co-ordinated Organisations, AAPOCAD and AMFIE.
What the conferences cover
- Pension funds and pension schemes: developments, issues and expectations
- Health insurance systems for retirees, including long-term care
- Relations between retiree associations and administrations, decision-making bodies and staff associations
- Practical matters affecting retirees, such as taxation and social contributions in the host countries
How the conferences work
Each conference is organised by one of the member associations, which acts as host. Presentations are given in English, and both English and French may be used in discussion. Discussions are confidential; a summary is prepared afterwards for the members of the participating associations. A standing committee helps prepare the conferences, and each conference closes by discussing the host, location, date and themes of the next one.
Documents and members’ area
Conference materials are available in Public Documents. Conference summaries and presentations for members of the participating associations are in the Member area; ask your association for the password. Working documents of the standing committee are in the Confidential area.
